Description of Services:

We are members of the Division of Medical Genetics of the Department of Pediatrics at Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) and have an academic affiliation with the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California. We provide telemedicine services to patients in Puerto Rico through the auspices of the Lopez Family Foundation (LFF), as many of the families there would otherwise not receive the care due to the type of insurance they have and lack of access. We provide telehealth case conferences with genetics physicians in Panama through the LFF. We also provide telemedicine services to patients in CHLA outreach centers in Southern California and are planning to provide telemedicine services to area neonatal intensive care units affiliated with CHLA. Currently the services are provided by medical geneticists and conferences with geneticists and genetic counselors, and we are planning now to add a registered dietitian to the providers. We have a close tie to our IT department and our Global Health Program to develop these initiatives and look forward to other endeavors within and outside of California.
